The Economics Institute receives every year the visit of outstanding Chilean and foreign professors, who have contributed with their knowledge and experience to the Institute.

During last years, the Institute has counted with the presence of prominent academics such as Ricardo Caballero (MIT), Jeffrey Williamson (Harvard), Stephen Ryan (MIT) and Victor Lima (University of Chicago), among others, who have given talks and lectures, workshops, courses, presentations of papers and have worked in research.

In addition, in mid-2011, it was implemented the Visiting Professors Contest. The goal of this initiative is to invite foreign academics with a prestigious international career, for a stay funded by the Institute. During that period of time, they do activities such as teaching in graduate programs, interact with Ph.D. students, do joint research with Economics Institute professors, presentations in seminars, among others.

In this context we have received three prominent academics, Joe Harrington from University, Johns Hopkins (October 24th-28th, 2011), Roger Lagunoff from Georgetown University (March 12th-9th,2012) and Hugo Hopeyhan from UCLA (March 25th-30th 2012).

Soon we will welcome Sebastián Galiani from the University of Maryland and César Calderón from the World Bank.
