The offices of the Ph.D. in Economics are located on the third floor of the Department of Economics and Business building. This building occupies approximately 12,000 m2 at the San Joaquín Campus of this university.
The Department building is equipped with modern classrooms, small conference rooms and offices for full-time professors. The Ph.D. has more than 600 m2 of offices for professors and students, classrooms and meeting rooms.
To emphasize the exclusive focus of the Ph.D. program and provide students with all of the tools they need, every student is assigned a workstation at the Institute and their own computer.
Students have access to the University Library System (Sistema de Biblioteca de la Universidad , or SIBUC) which holds more than 1,500,000 bibliographic items in printed format. In addition, the library's digital collection holds 18,000 items and an even more extensive list of virtual material, giving students access to a wide variety of journals, books and databases from international suppliers. Among electronic journals, the university has a JSTOR subscription that enables both undergraduate and graduate students to obtain access to 300 academic journals related to the arts and sciences.
The 40-hectare San Joaquín Campus features modern classrooms, laboratories and computer rooms, complete and updated libraries, a Catholic temple, dining halls, cafeterias and extensive athletic facilities including an indoor gym, a weight room with athletic equipment, a heated pool, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and areas for other sports, a modern running track and regular and arena soccer fields.
Arts and cultural activities are available through the UC Extension Center, located at the Central Campus. This center features art galleries, exhibit rooms and cinemas, a communications training center, restaurant, bookstore and large auditoriums and conference rooms. Ongoing activities are published on the university's web site.
There is a Pastoral Office (Dirección de Pastoral) at the San Joaquín Campus that oversees the campus church, where mass is celebrated Monday through Friday at 1:00 pm.
Several modes of public transportation are available at the entrance to the San Joaquín Campus on Avenida Vicuña Mackenna. This includes the San Joaquín station on Metro Line 5.
