f_zuritaThe Economics Institute of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile offers a Ph.D. in Economics, leading to the PhD in Economics, the highest academic degree granted by the university.

Those earning the Doctorate in Economics are at the leading edge of the discipline, with the training to conduct research, teach or hold professional positions at the highest level. As a result, our alumni have published numerous articles in important international publications.

The Doctoral Program in Economics was founded in 2002 and obtained accreditation in 2003 from Chile's National Accreditation Commission (Comisión Nacional de Acreditación de Chile),  which is part of the Ministry of Education. The Program's accreditation was renewed in September 2006 for a four-year period .

The Doctorate in Economics Program accepts a limited number of students chosen for their academic excellence through a rigorous selection process. The program is designed for students with undergraduate or master's degrees in economics, who generally spend approximately five years exclusively dedicated to coursework and development of a doctoral dissertation.

The program is backed by the broad experience and prestige of the Economics Institute in training undergraduate and graduate students, and continues its tradition of addressing current economic problems and making real contributions to both national and international economies. The fundamental pillar of this is the quality of our faculty and their dedication to academic research, which is reflected in the quality and quantity of their publications.

With best wishes,

Felipe Zurita L.
