The Economics Institute of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, university center of recognized national and international prestige in the research and teaching of economic sciences, offers its Master Program in Economics.
This Program was created in 1972 and it is accredited by the CONAP - Education Ministry (National Commission for Accrediting Graduate Programs).
This is a two year Program and it is only offered in a full-time basis. Furthermore, if the student chooses to do so, he/she can obtain the Master degree in one of the following fields: Public Policy, Financial Economics, Macroeconomics and Industrial Organization.
The Program's objective is to grant a solid background in economic theory, and to provide tools to perform rigorous empirical work with a particular emphasis on issues that are relevant to developing countries. The underlying vision is that a good economic analysis has to be funded on good economic theory and a sound empirical analysis.
The Master Program is designed for outstanding students from undergraduate programs in economics or from other disciplines. For students coming from other disciplines, the Program offers a preparatory curriculum according to the applicant's background.
The Program's goal is to produce economists that are able to perform successfully wherever they choose to work, whether it is in the public or the private sector. The most common destinations of our graduates are central banks in Latin America, international organizations like IADB, United Nations and FAO, the financial sector, governmental institutions, Latin American universities, global business companies and Ph.D. programs in the most prestigious universities in Chile, United States and Europe.
With best wishes,
