Fondecyt funding two projects of professors of the Institute

Jaime Casassus and Rodrigo Harrison receive research funding over the next three years.


jcasassusfinalA few days ago released the results of the 2011 regular competition, by Fondecyt, and two projects of the Institute of Economics teachers were approved. One is the teacher Jaime Casassus with Determinants of risk premiums in returns Commodities. This project aims to understand the determinants of risk premia in the prices of storable commodities (for example, copper, oil, gold), which will quantify the systematic risk management decisions and investment risk associated with commodities, issue that has become very relevant in this decade.


harrison_08Another teacher who also won the contest Fondecyt is Rodrigo Harrison. Rodrigo is co-investigator of Roberto Munoz in the project, of the University Federico Santa Maria, called An Integrated Approach for the Design of the Object-Pair Mechanism in Spectrum Assignment Markets. This research also has funding over the next three years.

The National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development, Fondecyt, is a public program which seeks to encourage and promote the development of basic scientific research in the country. That is why invites researchers from different disciplines to present their projects, providing resources. Projects approved at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile were 103, of which two belong to the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
