• Location: The Institute is located in the building of the School of Economics and Management Sciences, which is also the home of the Business School. The building has more than 6,500 m2 (69,967 feet2 approximately) and was built in 1987.

• Faculty: The Economics Institute has 23 full-time professors, of whom 20 hold a PhD degree. Additionally, it has a select courtesy faculty. 

• Research, publications and extension: The Institute has published almost 2,000 economic texts in the form of indexed journal articles, editorials, books and others. 

• Teaching: The Economics Institute, in collaboration with the Business School, offers a bachelor's degree  in Economic and Business Sciences, a four-years undergraduate program. It also offers a professional certificate, with specializations in eithereconomics  or business. 
The Economics Institute also offers a master's degree and a Ph.D. in Economics, in addition to the PIMA and CIAPEP programs. The master's degree program was founded in 1972 and since then has had more than 1,000graduate students, with an average class size of 50. The Ph.D. program was created in 2002; each entering class consists of about five students. Both academic programs have been accredited by the Ministry of Education. 
Finally, the Institute offers the PREL program for Latin American students completing their undergraduate education at PUC.

• Multicultural dimension: Both in the master's as well as the PhD program, almost 50% of our students over the last decade have been from countries other than Chile.

• Equipment: The computer laboratory has 27 PCs for the exclusive use of master's students who also have access to another 52 PCs located inside the School. On the other hand, PhD students have their own workstations and PCs inside the Institute. The Internet connection is a high-speed ethernet network and Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus.
The Institute has modern conference halls, classrooms equipped with the latest videoconferencing technology, study rooms, and many other spaces for students and professors. 
The University Library System (SIBUC) holds one of the largest bibliographical collections in Latin America, with more than 1.5 million items. The Library maintains updated, specialized collections related to the School of Economics and Management Sciences. This includes approximately 25,000 books, more than 100 journals and a large variety of tests, cases and selected readings. The Library also has the “Current Contents on Social Behavioral Sciences” in digital format, with lists of international economic journals.
In addition, the University is subscribed to JSTOR, providing access to an electronic collection of more than 300 academic journals on the arts and sciences, including literature of interest to students of the School of Economics and Management Sciences.
